Skills Discovery Day is an event where Boy Scouts (Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class to First Class) can learn many new skills that are requirements for the first four ranks!

It will be a great time with lots of fun and games! We will learn all kinds of skills from fire building to wood cutting to orienteering!

The event is sponsored by the Thunder Hawk Order of the Arrow (OA) Chapter, but you do not need to be an OA member to attend. 

Lunch will be provided.

Parking: The event is being held in the back corner of the parking lot.  Park in the Katy High School lot.

What to Bring

  • BSA Annual Health and Medical Record
  • $8 cash (for lunch)
  • Water bottle
  • Compass is helpful


Scouts who have earned the First Class rank can serve on staff.  Please bring $8 for lunch.  Staffers get a free t-shirt.

Scouting Safely

Safety is Your Responsibility posterThe BSA's Commitment to Safety is ongoing and we want you to know that the safety of our youth, volunteers, staff, and employees cannot be compromised. BSA Guide to Safe Scouting policies must be followed and all participants must follow youth protection guidelines at all Scouting events. Highlights include:

  • Two-deep leadership on all outings required.  
  • No one-on-one contact between adults and youth members. 
  • The buddy system should be used at all times. 
  • Discipline must be constructive.
