District Dinner is an opportunity for a night of fellowship and great food as we acknowledge and thank our adult volunteers for the hard work and dedication that made this year incredibly successful. Texas Skies District’s outstanding leaders at the unit and district levels will also be recognized.  All volunteers in Texas Skies District are invited.

The registration fee is typically $11.50 for the first per person and $10 for each additional person. Everyone is invited to participate in an aviation-themed cake contest. Make your best airplane cake. A panel of VIPs will judge the cakes based on the theme, Fly the Texas Skies, and then they will be served for dessert.

Registration opens in December

The Spirit Award is presented to one or more Scouters in each unit who has made a significant impact in the lives of youth in the unit and/or district. Units may select one candidate per year for every 60 Scouts registered with the Boy Scouts of America. (i.e., 1 – 60 Scouts = one nomination, 61 Scouts = two nominations).  Anyone may recommend a Scouter for the award. The unit committee selects the candidate(s) based on their knowledge of the candidate’s contributions, personal qualities, etc.

District Award of Merit

District Award of MeritThe District Award of Merit is a council award presented by districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is a national award presented by councils. The award is available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level. The award is made available annually on the basis of one for each 25 traditional units or fraction thereof. The district need not present all the awards to which it is entitled each year. It is not appropriate to nominate a Scouter who has already received this award. A professional Scouter or council employee may not receive this award based on employment service. However, a professional Scouter or employee who also serves as a volunteer Scouter may be eligible, based on volunteer service.
